COLLABORATING WITH FEAST HAWAII

It’s nice to move to an island and find one’s self among some very creative people. I’m lucky to live right next door to Amanda Robson the creator of FEAST HAWAII which is an event series pairing visionary chefs with inspiring artistic experiences. I had been here about a month when Amanda invited me over for an impromptu photo shoot to promote the Dreamer’s Feast for January. It was just a few photos snapped and some glitter tossed in the air under some loquat trees but it was the start of me feeling more at home here. It felt so good to be useful and work & play with other people after weeks of doing nothing but setting up the basics of life and battling some kind of cold virus. I was lucky to work with Amanda on the promotional shoot of the Spring Feast as well. A small team of us walked into a forest reserve with some makeup, a ladder and some wardrobe options. A very cool way to meet the talented makeup artist Ry-n Shimabuku who applied a mask of local flowers on dancer Alannah Andersen who danced a tribute to spring for the start of the latest Feast. The gorgeous Lei po’o (floral crowns) you see were created under the direction of Ocean Dreamer Florals of Oahu. Although Feast Hawaii happens at different venues these two events were hosted at Lumeria Maui which I love for its plantation style paired with Asian art and moody tones. Wherever the Feast transpires, I’m looking forward to Feasting my senses again.
