@monicasanluis & Dayson’s wedding is featured toda

@monicasanluis & Dayson’s wedding is featured today on @overthemoon! (Link in bio). Monica & Dayson have roots in Hawaii, so this multi day celebration was a thoughtful combination of local styles and experiences for their guests. The ceremony & reception were at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch, (one of the best venues in the state in my opinion.) Their floral designs featured an abundance of green and white hydrangeas as a reflection of the couple’s East Coast life in New York and their Hawai‘i roots.

The bride selected each bridesmaid dress individually to reflect each attendant’s personal style.
Reception design drew inspiration from classic New York restaurants, incorporating table lamps, draped linens, silver accents, a circular bar, and a marble dance floor and their irst dance was to One Direction’s “18,” a tribute to the age the couple was when they began dating as high school seniors. Cocktail napkins featured the lyric handwritten by the groom: “I have loved you since we were 18”. In lieu of a cake the couple chose a giant tiramisu with “Just Married” written on top, honoring their favorite dessert.

This was a very special local wedding I had been looking forward to for a year. On an early morning during a negative tide, Fiona & Sean’s friends and family decorated boats with homemade plumeria lei they had helped make the night before, and set out for the Kaneohe Sandbar, which would only be exposed briefly. Fiona sat on the prow of her boat, arriving last with her bridesmaids, under a large rainbow. She disembarked and walked up the sandy aisle to Sean in her mother’s wedding dress. After family group photos the sand quickly began to disappear and everyone changed into their bathing suits. The bride and groom walked on shallow water for portraits. The reception was the next night in the lush backyard of a dear family friend. It was an intimate, unforgettable experience, and I’m grateful to have been there!
