PREFERRED OAHU VENUE
Lanikuhonua
Lanikuhonua, which translates to “where heaven meets the earth,” is a breathtaking venue on Oahu’s west side, offering an idyllic setting for a Hawaiian wedding. Nestled along the coastline in Ko Olina, Lanikuhonua features expansive grassy lawns lined with swaying palm trees and sunset views right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

Wedding PrepAration
Lanikuhonua is located in the Ko Olina area and is easily accessible from nearby hotels and resorts, making transportation convenient for both wedding parties and guests. The Four Seasons Ko’olina is right next door and is the obvious choice for most brides and grooms preparing for their wedding. It’s also convenient for the wedding photographer to walk between these locations.

Ceremonies
Ceremonies at Lanikuhonua are held near the water. My personal preference is for ceremonies to be angled toward the mountains, framed by palm trees and not perpendicular to the shoreline. This generally provides more favorable lighting with better color in the ocean, which can act like a giant mirror from most angles during the afternoon on this side of Oahu.

COCKTAIL HOUR
Lanikuhonua cocktail hours are most often held in the grove of palm trees between the tent and the ocean. There is a lot of space and flexibility for any bar configuration and high and low tables and lounge vignettes within this lovely space. This area shines during golden hour as the sun is setting.

Receptions
Receptions at Lanikuhonua are generally held in in a tent which provides shade as well as a possible rain plan. The venue’s spacious grounds ensure a comfortable experience for weddings of all sizes.

Portraits
Lanikuhonua offers great sunset views on the coast and mountain views from phase II. Please keep in mind that the venue has three phases and each has a different point of shore access. Each phase is surrounded by greenery and of course I aim for a combination of backdrops taking advantage of both the garden and ocean aspects of the venue.
