Wedding PrepAration
Hotel Wailea offers elegantly designed suites with separate bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchenette areas, and are more spacious and comfortable than standard hotel rooms. Most rooms feature ocean views from the lanai and garden surroundings. Some rooms feature Hawaiian art and memorabilia on the living room wall which provides a nice local context for preparation photos.
Ceremonies
Ceremonies at Hotel Wailea are typically held on the Sunset Lawn, although for small parties the Treehouse might be an option. Sunset Lawn is an expansive space which can accommodate a few hundred people but also works for smaller parties. The views encompass the West Maui mountains and the Pacific Ocean at large. There is greenery on either side of the lawn and family group photos can easily be taken in these shady areas. Guests access the lawn via a pathway near the bubble bus which is a restored vintage Citroën type H van which opens up to serve as a bar.
cOCKTAIL HOUR
Cocktail hours are sometimes held on Sunset lawn after the ceremony at Hotel Wailea, however a very popular option is to host cocktail hour at Anuhea Terrace or the Birdcage Lounge on the level above, which both feature excellent views of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui Mountains and midcentury architectural charm. Most receptions at Hotel Wailea are now held in the Anuhea Ballroom so the terrace option offers an easy and natural transition for guests.
Receptions
Receptions at Hotel Wailea are often held in the Anuhea ballroom with a large waterfall at the back of the large room and sunset views on the oceanside. The ballroom has recently been fitted with many floating large brass Moroccan orb chandeliers. Guests are often delighted to transition from Sunset Lawn to the Anuhea Terrace and then to the air conditioned Anuehea Ballroom for the reception. Food-savvy couples will appreciate the resort’s award-winning culinary team curating exquisite meals featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
For smaller parties the restaurant’s garden (pictured left) can be a wonderful reception venue. For very small parties couples can host their reception at The Treehouse, an exclusive venue nestled in the property’s mango trees with ocean views.
Portraits
Hotel Wailea offers lush gardens and midcentury architecture as backgrounds for portraits. Some couples choose to remain on the grounds for portraits, while others opt to drive 7-9 minutes down the hill to Po’olenalena Beach park to take photos around sunset. The hotel or your photographer can offer transportation for this.
