temple & shore

I come from a city with strong Indian communities and have always relished the chance to photograph Sikh, Hindu, Ismaili or Muslim weddings. An Indian wedding in Hawaii, however, is a double treat. This destination Indian wedding was held on the green north shore of Kaua’i on the beach in front of the St. Regis Hotel in Princeville. Family flew in from around the globe to participate in the week of festivities : the mehendi / haldi party, sangeet, a private luau, and of course the big wedding day followed by a morning visit to Kauai’s Hindu Monastery for a blessing. A florist family member contributed the tropical floral work for the decor. Many South Indians who have viewed this gallery have initially thought it took place in Kerala, which must be lovely if it looks like Kaua’i. Indian weddings in Hawaii: a winning cultural and visual combination.
