This Hotel Wailea wedding was a much anticipated day by myself and everyone involved across the Maui wedding industry, because Lucy, the bride, is a local Maui girl of great kindness and style. I had worked with her before professionally on several shoots both as stylist and model and she quickly established herself here on Maui as an aesthete. Naturally this wedding expressed her “soulshine” in golden tones and starry elements and rich textures. Kimiko’s team from KH Co Events transformed the great ocean view lawn at Hotel Wailea with a clear tent set with Artisan Events long wooden tables and benches, Mandy Grace did the florals complete with little glass -0- installations. Starry lights hung from above.
Lucy and Ben had their ceremony in the mango grove on the lower lawn of the property. Guests sat on wooden benches and the couples stood under the mango foliage and exchanged vows, bread and wine. They made their way up to cocktail hour on the upper lawn with sweeping views of the pacific ocean as the sun set.
For their day after session I headed out with them to Kaupo for another golden sunset on the rugged and remote south coast of Maui. Lucy brought a blanket and bottle of wine to share, picnic style, as the sun went down.
