Fine art wedding albums

Digital files are wonderful to have but sooner or later every file format will be obsolete and hard drives will fail; the printed book remains.

Customization possibilities are endless but the heart of each book is the same quality volume: archival inks printed on fine art paper for a rich and brilliant print across seamless spreads over a lay-flat binding. I have been making albums for the better part of two decades and now work exclusively with this American bindery whose beautiful samples from a decade ago still come to meetings with me.

The stiff eggshell cotton pages are available in two thicknesses and covers are available in a variety of silks, linens, leathers and velvet. Custom embossing and foil stamping complete the presentation along with a slipcase. A matte lamination is available to those interested in ultra durability. These volumes are available à la carte or as part of a collection.

select

Once your album order is placed or your gallery is ready, you will receive an invitation to select around 130 images. This number does not have to be exact but it’s an excellent starting point for the design. In most cases a lot of revision can be spared when the client makes the initial selections for the book, but you also have the option of “artists’s choice.” If you do not have the inclination or energy to make selections Melia can design for you and you will still go through a revision process to get things just right.

Reveiw & revise

Once your selections have been submitted via your gallery you can expect the initial design within two weeks at most. The design will be presented in a virtual book which you can flip through and make comments directly on the pages. This round of revision plus an online meeting is included. One can book an online meeting to make changes in real time as soon as the initial design is presented.

confirm

Once your layouts and cover design have been approved, one can expect to allow 4-6 weeks for production and delivery anywhere in the world. Keep the album in its case, but bring it out to enjoy often.

Page thickness

The album pages are not your standard paper, but almost like a heavy card stock. The original book has a 0.5 mm thick page which allows for a little flex, and also a sleeker coffee-table-book-style presentation. The thicker page is a robust 1.3 mm without any flexibility and results in a much chunkier book. They both have their charms.

Uncoated Book Cloth

Our high quality Book Cloth is durable and comes in a wide variety of colors. It’s also incredibly versatile. When paired with custom designed embossing, Book Cloth can range from casual to elegant, ranging from linen to silk. Book Cloth is a tried-and-true foundation of our books.

It was more beautiful than we can ever imagine.

We received the wedding album and waited until our anniversary to open it. It was more beautiful than we can ever imagine. A nice way to celebrate our anniversary in COVID. We have never seen that type of paper before. It made the photos look like paintings. Gorgeous! Thank you again for such beautiful and detailed work, photos and album.
